MARK ROBINSON, JR. DISCUSSES THE SOLORIO AWARD

When Robinson Calcagnie shared with us their client’s plight, a below-the-knee amputation, organ removal and head injury due to being struck by a vehicle while roadside, our hearts swelled with empathy. Mr. Faustino Solorio was a landscaper whose pickup truck was nearly out of gas. He and his passenger pulled safely to the side of the road and exited the vehicle to look for a gas can in the rear of the pickup. $46 Million VerdictSuddenly, a vehicle turned onto the roadway with excessive speed and without warning struck Mr. Solorio with such force his body was thrown on top of of the hood and his face smashed the windshield shattering it. The collision also caused lacerations to Solorio’s spleen, which had to be removed because of the injuries.

The offending vehicle was driven by a Nissan of San Bernardino parts delivery driver. The jury did not buy the independent contractor defense, that he was “off the clock,” yet still in uniform.
Mr. Robinson asked for $33M and within 2 hours the jury to reach a unanimous decision and award $46 million!
